Married abroad, filing for I130

Hi,

So my situation might be a little different then the usual cases, I am a US citizen with dual citizenships (US and Bosnian) ... for the past 5 years or so I have been living in bosnia and working, married my fiance of 4 years and we are moving to the US.

Now since I lived outside the states I was not employed in the US so I didnt do my taxes etc etc since I had 0 income.

I am coming to the states to file for my spouses I130, and was considering in hiring a lawyer to do this for me, since we both currently live in Bosnia.

We have been living together since last year when we got married and have a few bills on the same address but no joint accounts.

Has anyone filed their I130 and had a similar case as mine...what would you recommend me.

Thanks

NO. This is wrong. You did not have "0 income" -- you said you were "living in bosnia and working" -- that means you had income. Whether it was "in the US" or not is completely irrelevant. US citizens are subject to US taxes on worldwide income, regardless of where you live. You need to file back taxes ASAP, because you broke tax law. You need to do this regardless of whether you are petitioning someone to immigrate or not.

You can open some joint accounts if you don't have any. Put each other as beneficiaries on various things, etc.

Well I only worked this last year, basixally from the day I got married to today and made about 7500 dollars for that year.

Every past year before that I did not work, I was basically there on vacation with my parents sending me money.

Can joint abroad bank accounts count as way of showing common residence and receiving bills at the same address?
