Marriage while we are here, then file AOS?

I'm a USC and my fiance is on an F1 visa. We plan on having two weddings, one in the US (thinking Oct 2007) and one in her home country (Jan 2008). Because of the time it takes for AOS, AP and everything else, we are considering doing a quick civil service soon and filling out all the forms so that there is no chance of travel problems in Jan 2008.

Would this be any kind of problem for CIS since it will look like the wedding is just for a green card?

We would like to wait until after the Jan 2008 wedding, but she would have to take another semester of classes to keep her F1 visa (but she has will have completed all her courses).

It is upto every applicant to prove that their marriage was in good faith . It is the job of the IO to prove otherwise .
You can have your civil cermony as early as tomorrow and file your papers the next day ..This should put you ahead of your plans and you should have your fiancee's GC as early as Jan 07 . Good Luck .

As the previous post mentioned it is up to you to Prove the marriage was legitimate.

Having a civil marriage is a good start, .. As the USCIS will be out to prove your marriage is Not legit, you have to prove otherwise, keep receipts for engagement rings, take photos at the civil service have a relative or close friend witness the service.

In the coming year meet as many freinds and relatives of eachother as possible. Make sure you work on support evidence for your case and establish joint accounts, living together ect.

Before filing anything prepare all your documents and make copiies of everything you will need.

It will take about 4-6 months for everything to be complete so she has time to take her classes.

See attached for a breakdown of what forms (I-485, I-693 & I-130,I-864EZ,)to file and other things to support your case & Assure it goes smoothly.
