marriage vs. H1B

I'm currently on my OPT after graduation, which expires on 5/30/2004.
I recently married a USC and at the same time, my job can sponsor me for an H1B. I'm debating which route to take to apply for GC (thru marriage or employment), since I do not want to have to quit my job if my working permit does not arrive on time.
What are the implications of taking one route and switching to the other? My marriage is for real, but what if for some reason it doesn't work out. Can I go back to an H1B?
BTW, I live in WA state.
Many thanks

Marriage will get you a GC and citizenship faster but if you break up and there is a finding of marriage fraud, you will NEVER get a GC in the US.

You have already identified the EAD timing issue.
