Marriage to illegal

My boyfriend and I want to get married, he is illegal though. Can we still get married? And if we do get married, will be able to become a Citizen anytime?

If you are an American citizen, your boyfriend came here inspected (or “legally”) and did not commit any crimes (at least serious), you have nothing to worry about (he will get his green card).
Regarding him becoming an American citizen, he will be able to apply for it as early as 3 years after getting his green card.
