Marriage to Illegal Immigrant(Alien), Please advice needed

Hello!
I desperately need help! I'm (an american citizen) going to marry a girl who came to US on a student visa, but overstayed it already from 2002 (5 years).Unfortunately we cant afford right now paying lawers fees, and i couldn't collect all the correct info through the net. Can you please tell me the steps that we should make from getting a marriage certificate to filing all the needed paperwork. The small problem i believe is that all these 5 years she's been working "off-the-books", so she was not paying taxes, how can we explain it to the clerks, should we say she just didnt work those yrs and her family was supporting her? What is the best way out of this situation? Any of your advice will be greatly appreciated, sorry but i'm really confused with all the needed paperwork requirements.:confused:Thank you
 
1) Her illegal stay will be forgiven, for marrying an US citizen. Just make sure she does NOT leave the country under ANY circumstance (not even with Advance Parole -travel permit-) until she gets her GC.

2) Her illegal employment will be forgiven, but she SHOULD NOT lie about it and she MUST pay her taxes, if it does not become a stumbling block now, it will later on when she files for Naturalization.

3) This is a pretty good guide to follow: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=i130guide2 as far as how to get a marriage license and such, go to your local court house or probate judge's office and get one, bring your IDs (her passport and your DL).

This whole process should take about 4-8 months and cost around $1500-1800. Most of us here did not use a lawyer, and your case, could be pretty straight forward once she settles the tax issue.

I'll second what Praetorian said about having to pay taxes. Not reporting income does not exempt someone from having a tax liability for that income. Heck, the IRS even wants people to pay income tax for stolen or bartered items. I saw something on TV once that IRS maintains some offices where illegals can pay their income tax "anonymously" so to speak, not sure how it works.
