Hi,
Here is our situation. I have already sent Packet 3 to the Chennai consulate saying that I intend to apply as \'single\'. But then my marriage got settled. My fiancee is already in H1 and is working in another city of the same state. I know I can get married and apply for GC together. But I have some questions about the potential issues we might face
1. We are not in a position to go to India and get married before the Consular Processing. But we will be able get married in a US court and get a marriage certificate. I\'m wondering if the Chennai consulate would just accept that and not ask for invitation and wedding photos. Also, at the time of the interview, we wouldn\'t have started to live together and will still have separate addresses.
2. Or we could also plan to get married in a registrar office when I go to India for the consular interview. Would the consulate look at a certificate from India much more favorably than the one from US even though it will be dated a few days before the interview?
3. Do I need to send Packet 3 documents for my wife before we go for the interview or can we just take them with us when we appear for the interview?
4. We would also appreciate hearing the experience of someone who might have been in our position or even somewhat similar to our position either in this forum or mail us at alwarpetdude@yahoo.com
Thanks
