Marriage on Visitor visa !

The guy with whom i wanna get married has just filed his I-485 . I am on a visitor visa (B1 ) from India to USA since June 2001. If i marry him in USA, will it create any problems in me/him getting green card ? How many months will it take for the approval of I-485 in California ? We need to get married before the approval of I-485.

Same Situation

hi Nicki. I am in the same situation. My lawyer told me ti does not matter if we get married in the US as long as my spouse leaves the US soon after marriage and change her visa from B1 to H4 (in my case I am on an H1-B) and re-enter with the new visa.

If she stays on the US, the INS might not like that since she came here with the intent of a visitor and should only be here if she is visiting. But since she got married, she needs to switch her visa.

I think it makes sense. What did your lawyer say?
