Folks here is a situation ..
My RD is Oct 2001 and ND Nov. 2001. I have decided to get married in next 2-3 months and bring my spouse here. Now based on the current trend of I- 485 approvals do you guys think that I should be OK. I just want to get married before my I-485 is adjudicated..

Your thoughts are appreciated ...

Depends on finger print.

It depends on FP done date. Normally after FP done it would take 3 to 4 months for approval.

You\'ll have to file for follow to join which will be a CP process

Finger Printing etc. would be all done after GC is stamped(At Consulate) in her passport, at the POE.
If you know her name etc....start the process ASAP...maybe make a quick trip and do a paper marriage
to start the process soon.....

its possible, with good lawers help

You can do it. My friend has done same. His case assigned to officer. He inform INS to wait for sometime, got married, apply for spouse. her Application were tied to my friends application. MY friend got approved in 15 Days. Spouse get approved in 9 months, her fingerprint and other formalities needs to be completed.

Thanks all !

Thanks all for your valuable input. I wish I had done it before so my wife would have been able to get here on H-4. With my RD=Oct1..I guess I still have a few months ..but my 3 yr H-1 in will expire in Sept. So if I decided to get married in June/July/August then according to my lawyer, my wife will not get her H-4 just for a few months ..so only option left is follow-to-join. But then she will have to wait till she has a visa number available. And how long will that be?
Now if Oct 1 RD is not approved till the Sept. or Oct. then I can extend my H-1 and bring my wife here on H-4 ...But is this likely to happen ?
God ..this is all so complicated ...

Why H-4? Bring her directly on GC....INS only needs proof of marriage.....

Follow to Join and CP would be the fastest and easiest route...she might have to
wait for 2-3 months for interview from consulate....

I don\'t get this....

I was told if the primary applicant gets married prior to the INS\'
approving the I-485 application, there should be no problem for the dependent/s to either file the Adjustment of Status . I mean to say after GC is approved. you can file for spouse in 485 if they are in H-1 status working here? Can someone clarify this whether it is 100% true!
