marriage certificate

hello all:

i am a green card holder and would be getting married soon in india with a F-1 visa holder.

I would like to know the procedure for getting the marriage certificate, how much time it takes etc? Can the application? ne done before the marriage actually takes place? And can one apply for it after marriage and have someone sent to usa when it comes along (that is physical presence is ot necessary after that)

In my case:-

I went to the Registrar Office and submitted the form and got the Certificate in about a weeks Time.

I am not sure if we can apply before the marriage.

ANd I guess ur wife requires the marriage certificate if she is entering into US as depended. otherwise u dont require at the time of entering into US.In that case u can have it mailed after u come back here....

THIS IS JUST MY UNDERSTANDING OF THINGS..PLEASE VERIFY FROM OTHER SOURCES TO BE SURE.

Have you thought of a FIANCE visa instead to get your bride to be here .

I have heard its a lot less painful than getting married abroad and then getting your spouse to the US.
