If one doesn't have a marriage certificate issued by Govt in India, is marriage certificate from the Indian Consulate valid for INS? The consulates in US issue marriage certificate if the spouse's name is already in the passport. Anyone has any experience?

Received RFE for AP renewal for self and spouse. Don't know details yet.

One of my friend used the consulate's marriage certificate for h1 and h4 purposes, not for green card, better ask the lawyer.
