on immihelp.com, it says that marriage must be registered under hindu marriage act of 1955.

I see the marriage cert issued states that the marriage was registered by the registrar under the maharashtra regulation of marriage bureaus and registration of marriages act 1998.

is the act of 1998 an amended form of the hindu marriage act of 1955? anybody else got a marriage certificate from maharashtra state under the act of 1998?
