Hello, I am now 26 and about to get married to my girlfriend. It would be a real marriage however, I am illegal and on the list to be deported. Being a young kid, all i wanted to do was play games and such so i didnt really know the gravity of the situation. My parents took care of the proceedings and appeals and all that stuff, but to no avail and they were denied back in year 2000 and they opted for voluntary deportation but never left. I spoke to a lawyer and he said it is possible for me to still become legal. I would have to push up our marriage sooner and then he would try to re-open my case and then try to get my green card through my wife. Has anyone gone through this experience or know someone who has and succeeded? The lawyer quoted me a $16000 bill so im kind of a bit iffy. I know that it must be done but I just want to explore my options a bit. Maybe i can do it cheaper or maybe it will just fail horribly and I would have to go back to my country anyways.
