Marriage Based GC (CAN ANY ONE HELP)

I am married to a GC holder and I am currently on H1B visa.
Both of us are in USA in good status. My Green Card (GC) is under process through RIR.

I have following questions.

1) If I would like to get my GC processed through my spouse,
how much time will it take?
2) Do I have to go outside US?
3) will my work with my present employer be effected
in any fashion as they are processing my GC.

Any alternative suggestion are welcome.

Any help /advice will be appreciated.
