Marriage after I-485 filed ?

I have a friend who is on an H1B.

His six years get over in april-may 2004. His old H1 expired. So he is applying for an extension soon.

His lawyer is filing for I-485, I-131 (Advanced Parole), I-765 (EAD) in the next couple of days. The H1 should be filed in the next week.

Questions:

I suppose he can get married to a girl as he has a H1B now and bring the girl on H4. He hasn;t decided on the marriage yet.

1. Can he add the wife's name in the I-485 petition after it has been filed? or is there no hope of doing such amendments ?

2. How much time does he have to do that ? Ball park figure would be helpful.

3. what other issues that one needs to be careful about in this scenario ?
 
while his I-485 is pending he can get married and obtain H4 visa for his spouse. upon arrival to the United States his spouse can submit her adjustment application based on her derivative status enclosing her husband I-140 approval notice and I-485 notice of action along with her appropriate documentation.

How long does one have between filing the I-485 and the ability to file an amendment.
