Marriage after Citizenship and bringing spouse to US

Friends,

I recently became US citizen and have a few questions regarding bringing my would be spouse here after we get married. What are my options?

1. I hear that if I visit India and stay for 2 months, I can take my spouse or any dependents to consulate for processing and then they will be given GC. I am sure still they will have to wait back home before everything gets done comptelely and they can travel. Am I right?

2. I can still bring my spouse on some sort of visa and then apply for her GC here (whatever time it takes..)

3. Or I don;t get married there and bring her on fiance visa and then get married here..any one tried this??

Any input will be greatly appreciated..and best of luck to all in the citizenship process...If I can be of any help, let me know..I applied in April 2005 and became citizen in Dec 2005. Newark NJ.

You have to stay 60 days and then apply I-130. The spouse doesn't get the GC right a way. He/She has to get an immigrant visa (3 months) and then go to US, then he/she gets the GC.

Sad reality is that spouse won't be able to get any visa to come to US. You can file papers in US and spouse will be able to get there in 8-9 months. GC will take much longer after that.

3. Or I don;t get married there and bring her on fiance visa and then get married here..any one tried this??

You apply K-1 and once fiancee in in US, you need ot get married in xx days (90 I guess). This also takes some time, not sure how much. I am guessing > 6months.
