Marriage abroad advice

So, I'm planning to go abroad this summer and to get married there. What should I do after that? File I-130 abroad or wait until I come back? Will it be faster to file abroad? About how long would it take to get everything processed?

Are you a US citizen? Is your future spouse living inside or outside the US? Depending on your situation including the answers to those questions, the K-1 visa (and getting married in the US) may be better than getting married abroad.

I recently went through the same thing. I am a US citizen who got married abroad. I think that some foreign countries allow you to do consular processing which speeds things up a lot, but mine did not. I strongly suggest that you check this in advance. In my case the visa process was an absolute nightmare, taking ~11 months to complete. I started with an I-130 form, which took ~6 months to approve (and they told me that they expedited it). Then it was on to other layers of applications through the national visa center, before the interview could be scheduled.

In contrast, my US citizen friend had his wife enter the USA on a fiancé visa to get married there. It took them four months to get their visa, dealing entirely with USCIS inside of the USA, and most importantly, she was allowed to stay and work in the USA while they waited.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert here, I am just speaking from personal experience, so it's a good idea to cross-check with others.

I am a US Citizen and my future spouse lives abroad in Pakistan.

Please advise....Question on us citizen filing for visa for family

I recently became US Citizen and all of my immigration documents says that I am single.

But, I was married in India in 2010 and has a daughter. I would like to get them here as soon as possible.

One of my friend raised a question that this might be a problem if I mention now that I was married in India and not mentioned on the n-400 immigration documents.

If yes, are there any other documents that I should submit to uscis to let them know that I was married back in 2010?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
