We recently got our landing papers. My husband was the main applicant. But now he does not want to immigrate to Canada. My son is 17 and has applied to Canandian universities for admission.I would like him to settle down in Canada.

Is it possible for us to land in Cananda and my husband returns to our home country after a few months and the rest of the family stays in canada. Will our status be revoked once he decides to go back?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

First of all - Happy New Year.

Second of all, your husband being the primary applicant must land with you in order for you all to become landed immigrants. Having said that, once you all land, your husband may leave and this will not affect the rest of the families' PR status. Each person is responsible for their own PR status upon landing.

Keep in mind that currently the law in Canada allows a PR to stay out 3 years out of every 5 years. If you husband stays out beyond the allowed 3 years, he will loose his landed status.

Hope this answers your question.
