Maintaining Greencard

Hi all,

I, my wife and my son won a GC through lottery. Last summer I entered the USA and we got our greencards. However, in order to live there I have to find a job, and I can not leave my current job for good, so

1- I only can go to the US one month per year for looking for job, obtaining a job abroad is almost impossible. This summer I do not want to take my 4 years old son with me, so I and my wife will travel. Can this be a problem for him or for us for entry?

2- We traveled last year and we will travel again this summer and I was not aware of re-entry permit, will it cause a problem?

3- I am not working in the US, shall I declare any tax document?

I am confused with too many topics,

Any help is appreciated.

I've heard of people who maintained their GC for years by visiting US once a year. However, I have also heard of people who lost their GC after doing that too many times. In any case as a GC holder you must file US taxes.

Assume my 4-year old son is denied by the officials because he did not visit the USA for more than one year. Can I claim a new application for him if I can find a job meanwhile?

You will have to file a petition for him as a child of an LPR. To do that you have to be resident in the US and - I believe - be able to file an affidavit of support for him.

This is all assuming you don't get your green card revoked for abandoning residency in the interim of course...

That was prompt. To be honest, I will try this year and perhaps next year. So I will abandon residency if I am not successful. From my side I have an excuse, since travelling with a child and going to interviews in the mean time is not so easy and the children go mad with this "big" change of time and placement.
