Hi All,

I need a favor from you guys, Please advice...

I have an F1 visa for Spring 2004 and now Im in US but due to some unavoidable reasons I have to go back to India without joining this semester. I want to maintain my F1 status so that I can continue in next semester.

My question is
1) How should I proceed in order to maintain my F1-visa status.
2) Whether to let the university know about my intentions. Is it legal if I don’t give my I-20 back to the university this semester and join the same university next semester.

Please suggest what at are best possible options I have.

Thanks in Advance.

Please contact International advior for your school. She is the best person to answer this question. I think there is a provision to skip a semester.

You can ask the International Office to give you a new I-20 for the semester u want to come back. They will do that right away as you were accepted once for the Univ.

Then u can go back to INDIA with no problem and come back. I know this as my friend as been thru this process.
