Mailing passport for PCC

Is it safe to mail the original passport to get PCC?. I\'m worried what if it\'s lost in the mail?. Any one had any experience?.

I had no problem.

I used Fedex and got it safely back in 2 days.

I assume you\'re mailing within US

That is ok and usually safe. I heard mailing outside the country where you\'re residing is ILLEGAL.

PCC Clarification

I am planning to get my PCC for CP.
Do I need to get it from Indian PS of my native or PCC from Indian Embassy is enough?

If it\'s CGI Chicago - no need to send it right now.

You can send a photocopy with the application.
They call you once they get clearance from india and you can then FedEx your passport to them.
The only difference being that this way your passport is with them for 3/4 days as opposed to 30-45 days.
