i'm new and have a question hopping someone can help me. My wife and I have been together for 3yrs and married for a couple of months now and we are doing all the paper work "I-130 & others" ourselves, My question has to do with her name. Since she is filing for me should she use her married name or maiden name? does it matter?

From your message I understand your wife is a US citizen and you are the immigrant spouse, and the answer below is based on that understanding. If that is incorrect, let me know.

If she's going to file for you using her married name on the forms, she should have at least one of her identifying documents with her married name on it (e.g. US passport, driver's license, SSN), and make sure to get them all changed before the interview.

Otherwise, she can keep her maiden name until the end of the process and then change it later or keep it forever.
