HI,

I am currently a LPR as a result of an asylum status. My husband is actually the one that claimed asylum, but I got my green card through him and it says AS7 on my green card.

I really need to travel abroad pretty soon, and it seems like renewing my passport from my COP is the only way that I can travel abroad within such short time. I have applied for I-131, but there is no way that it would come back in time. My intended travel date is within 2 weeks, and I havn't even gotten my finger printing appointment. I also don't have a valid passport so I need this re-entry permit (or a new passport) to travel abroad. So, it seems like the only way that I can travel abroad soon is to renew my country's passport.

So, my question is when I apply for citizenship, will renewing my country's passport give me any trouble? I am not going back to my COP. I am only renewing the passport so that I can travel abroad to another country. What about my children? They have AS8 on their green card. Will they also be able to renew their passport w/o any trouble at citizenship interview?

Please help.

I renewed my passport and traveled with it. The officer didnt' give me any problems during my USC interview. She just was concerned if i went to COP which I never did. Passport wasn't even opened.
