Love Marriage But Practical Financial Problem

Dear friends, I am expeting a GC interview.

My question is do I have to have documents to prove we are financially ONE?

Will the officers understand that we are tempororily not financially one is because we want to get over his bad credit from his divroce?

I have almost perfect credit so at least one of us can get good rate loans.

If I jump in now to mix with him financally for the only sake of GC, it will put us in a possibly unstable financial situation which will in turn hurt our marriage.

Anybody in similar situation and have suggestions for us?

Thanks.

You dont have to have joint loans. A joint bank account should be good enough. They just need to know that its not a fraud. So if you have joint utility bills, joint bank account, credit card statements, letters/affidavits from friends saying you two are happily married, you should be fine.

More ideas for you

lifesdetour,

Get a join car insurance. It’s not only the proof of same address/join finances, but also a smart way to save money. Most car insurance companies will give you a discount for a second car on the same policy.
If either of you have a health or a life insurance, the other spouse should be listed “beneficiary”. INS would like to see that.
Same goes for 41K, if you have such account.
DO NOT open any join credit cards accounts, as it will harm your good credit.
The usual checking should be enough.
I have a friend who was in a same situation. They didn’t have much to show, just join checking account, car insurance and last year join tax return. She got her GC and you’ll get yours too.

Good luck!
