I lost my passport last year , Unfortunately I didnt take a copy of I-94 .
But I was able to get a DUPLICATE passport from INDIAN consulate in NY.
Also got H-1 visa stamped in the NEW passport after sending it to St. Lous office , cause I had
a police report stating that , "he lost his passport due to unavoidable circumstances" .

But I m now worried since my days are getting closer for 485 approval (ND DEC 2001) ,
and I came across many articles for 485 approval
i.e "Need to have I-94 for stamping 485 approval" .

Is it still possible to get 485 approval stamped regardless of I-94 in the passport .

Please provide some information about this kind of case

I-94 is the only proof that you have entered this country legally. I think just having a police report might be helpful(but it is at the discretion of the officer stamping your passport). Just to be on the safe side, I think you should apply for I-102 and you will get the duplicate in less than 30 days.

Good Luck!

When you sent in the 485 package. The lawyer must have had a copy of I-94 enclosed. Ask your lawyer if they have a copy.

How long did it take it for you get your visa stamped from st. Louis? I too lost my passport and my I-94 recently. I got a new passport though. I'm travelling to India next saturday (23 Nov).

Your feedback is very much appericated.

Cheers,
Ganesh

If you lost passport , Report to the COP and get a police report in hand.

Usually it takes 2-3 mths to get it stamped.

Also when you send it for stamping , send along with Police report , that gives you an added advantage to confirm that passport lost is due to an accident .

thanks la_cool

I got the police report done as mine was a car burgulary. (misfortunes never come single!).

Since I have to travel to India next week, I'm hoping that I could get my visa restamped again at Madras Consualte.

Cheers,
Ganesh.

Hey Buddy, Listen to GCGCHUNTER. Its logical advise. You can NOT file all these forms unless you submit a copy of I-94. So I guess you still hold a chance.

easy way to get I-94 replaced.

There is a short cut for replacing I-94. You don't need a I-94 to leave the country.

Since I had lost the I-94 (and my passport) I just gave a photocopy of my 'lost' I-94 while I left the country. When I came back, I got a new I-94.

This route was suggested by my lawyer.

So, if you are somewhere near the canada/mexico boder and is cheaper than $100 to cross the border, it's the easiest route.

Cheers,
Ganesh.
