Lost my job...please advise

Hi

I lost my job yesterday. I have my 485 approved 3 months ago and recd my plastic a month ago.

My question is is it advisable to apply for unemployment benefits?
I mean, there was a earlier guideline for people to stick with their job for 1 year after GC.

Could it result in revoking my GC, I do not want to take any risk if there are any cases where they had problems because of such a thing.

Your comments/experiences appreciated and will be of great help.

The general consensus is

that if one gets laid off, it is ok to ask for unemployment benefits. I still have to hear about a confirmed revoked GC due to change of employer. Furthermore, some people worry about the "public charge" issue. Unemployment benefits don't count towards the public charge, and furthermore, the public charge issue happens only if you go out of the country for more than 6 months and try to gain admission again. So, good luck finding a new job and don't worry.

Layoff after 485

I got one friend laid-off after 485 last year. He applied unemployment benifit and did not have any problem afterwards.

Another one laid-off after 485 and applied unemployment benifit. He also applied training fund from state and got approved. He got Oracle DBA certificate using that training and got a job afterwards.
