I'm writing on behalf of my significant other...Jim.
Jim was fired from his job a few weeks ago. We don't know why and they will not give us separation papers.
The day after he was fired, he lost his wallet which contained his Naturalization Certificate (original), social security card, and ID.
He was born in Korea. He does not know who his birth mother/father are. His adopted parents (One of whom was a US Citizen at the time) adopted him and brought him to the US. He does have a Visa.
We sent in our N-565 form for a replacement certificate about 4 weeks ago. I've been reading this board and it appears that it could take up to a year to get a new original. The Social Security office will not give him a replacement card. Only a print out that says his SS# does match his name. The Driver's License place will not issue him a new ID until he has his birth certificate (or in this case...Naturalization Certificate)
We are expecting our second child in February of next year and Jim does not have ANY identification so that he can obtain a job. He is sitting at home being very depressed waiting for the mail to run every day.
Is there anything more we can do?? Thank you SO much.
