All,

We recently became naturalized citizens. They collected our GCs at that time and issued citizen certificates to us at that time.
Now we are getting ready to apply for US Passports. We cannot seem to find the GC of our child any where.

While we apply for the child's US passport will they deman the child's GC. Any way we can apply for the kid's passport.

I-90 for the child can take upwards of an year.

Any other mechanism to apply for the child's US passport ?

Please advice.

Thanks,

Our family's green cards expired just before it became apparent that our wait for the naturalization interview was over. The instructions were clear that since my wife and I had applied well before 6 months ahead of the expiration we did not need to get new green cards. However, we felt we needed one for our daughter.

We applied (on the web, I think) and got a Notice of Action dated April 14th. The Fingerprint appointment was sheduled for May 3rd (which we delayed until May 31 (because of school)). Her GC showed up in June 9 (about 2 weeks after she became a citizen).

The Dallas District Office seems capable of replacing a child's GC in no time flat.

That said, since your child is now a citizen, I'm not sure if it is appropriate to get her a replacement GC. Do you have a passport with an I-551 in it. If not, consider making an infoPass appointment to get an I-551 stamped in her passport or some other proof of his/her permanent residence.

Good luck.
