My wallet was stolen or lost and of course I had my green card and SSN card in it. I am unable to replace the SSN card without having the green card. I called USCIS and they told me I could apply for citizenship. I only have a copy of the front of my current green card and they told me I could include that and write a letter explaining that my wallet was stolen. I did not file a police report because I don't know when or where it was stolen. I have filled out the N-400 and am ready to mail. I read somewhere that filing the N-400 AND requesting a replacement green card would confuse the system. Additionally, I don't want to pay for a green card AND citizenship. Can anyone advise me?
