Looking for Advice

Hi,

I am hoping to get some advice. I am about to complete 5 year permanent residency in a couple of months. I guess I can apply for N400 now(90 days in advance right?). I am planning to take a trip to India in June 06. I will be gone for a month. My wife is also going to India from June 06 to end of Aug 06.

Can I apply for N400 now? What happens if I get finger printing during this period? When we did for Green Card Filing, I vaguely remember that we will have time up to 90 days after the date they ask us to appear for finger prints but we can go only on Wednesdays if we miss the original date given by INS. Is it the same case for citizenship processing too?

Can my wife re-schedule it if she is out of country for that whole period (90 days)? Is giving FP in India an option? As most of you know it is highly unpredictable when they will ask us for FP.

I appreciate your advice.

Easy and simple: Why don't you apply for Naturalization when you come back from your trip to India?

Similar Question with yours are posted in this forum every other day.
Except for the situation when someone dies and you have to attend a funeral, I don't get it.
You have two things to do, which one it the priority #1. OK, do that and postpone the other one, it's as simple as that

You still have 3 months before you go to india....If I were you I would apply now, most likely you will get FP before June. it is a chance with with good probability.

CIS send the FP letter with a fixed date and if you cannot make it you should send the letter back to them and request another date. So back your self up by having someone you trust watch for your mail.

Thanks for the information. That is what I am looking for. I am planning to place a hold in the post office while I am gone. Hopefully, the INS letters wouldn't be sent back due to that. If I get a letter for FP during that time, I will reply USCIS when I am back.

If I get the FP with a date before I leave, I would be lucky with no problems.

If you see any issues with what I am planning to do let me know.
