Looking for a couple of good Desi firms

I am looking for a good Desi firm to work for. I have read a lot of sad stories of people who work for Desi firms. Some think it is "hell", some think it is not that bad as long as you can find a good company. Anyway, it is hard to tell what kind of company it is until you work for it.

Before I have to go through that hell (if it is really true), I would like to know some companies that are good to work for and they will sponsor my green card.

I have a BS in Management Information Systems and Master's degree in Public Policy, both from a US university. I have 1 year of full-time and 5 years of part-time work experience as a Systems Analyst. I am in OPT right now.

Thanks

Dumb question - why are you so particular about working for a Desi company?

There is no dumb question. It is not by choice, it is by necessity. I have not been able to find a job on my own. I had many interview offers and once they find out that I am an international student, they do not even want to talk to me. That being said, I had a couple of interviews with companies like Deloitte, McKinsey, and Bain recently. I am still waiting to hear from them.

Only reason I am looking for a Desi firm is for a back up. Something is better than nothing, isn't it?

Thanks

Though it may not be a totally dumb question, however, one needs to blame oneself for the sorry plight of having to deal with any company you term as "bad".

People are not satisfied with whatever salary they are getting and are always looking to jump from one company to another for just money. No morals, no loyalty, no commitment.

What are the "bad" firms supposed to do?

Try to understand from the firm's point of view.

People stick to a company only till the time they help themselves, either getting a new H1B or Green Card. Once they get this, they jump the ship.

It is the matter of people becoming too greedy and have no loyalty to one company.

A little story out of the context perhaps. I know a case where a desi firm in the US applied for new H1Bs in the US and got them approved, spending about $2500 to $3000 (or whatever) to sponsor each candidate from India. These candidates had applied to other companies too and then they joined some other company instead of this desi firm. Now what is this desi firm supposed to do? burn their pockets as they did for no reason?

Obviously, they stopped doing new H1Bs for people from outside the US and are sticking only to H1B transfers.

Who needs to be blamed in this case?

One can easily say that a company treats him bad, but what when HE treats the company bad?? Ever thought about it?

Going by what you yourself have said, you see my point?

GCChaahiye,

Thank you for your message. I understand what you are trying to say. There are two sides of a coin. All I hear is these employees not satisfied with Desi firms. A couple of "bad" things I have heard about some of the Desi firms are:
-Not paying as much as an employee should have got paid in other firms
-Not paying health insurance for the employee and the family
-Not giving holidays
-Sending the employee anywhere in the US without his/her willingness to go (sometimes people do not to go some places, because of various reasons)

These are just few. I am not too worried about you not asking my resume. I have a couple of Desi firms that are very interested on me and I also have some MNCs that are still interviewing me. In fact, a big company is flying me to Atlanta next week for the final interview.

Let’s say, you got a great idea that will make you double the money you are making right now, would you still keep running the Desi firm? Probably not. I am sure you have back up plan in your life. I am pretty sure you know what you are going to do next if your current business does not do well. I do not think there is any thing wrong with having back up plans.

One thing I would like you to know is that if I am committed to one company for a certain period, I would never leave that company until I am done with the contract. I am a man of integrity and I will stand by my decision no matter what happens. For me, money is something, not everything. I would like to get a decent pay, but I will never run after money. You are probably thinking that I am interested in your company; no, I am NOT interested.

Not all the Desi firms are bad, that is what I have heard and I hope yours is one of them. I wish you all the best for running a good Desi Firm

Thanks again.
