Long Vacation out of country with GC

Hi,

I know that one (with a GC) cannot be out of the country for more than 6 months at a time. Is there a process where some kind of pre-approval can be got from INS, so that one can stay out of the country more than 6 months (say maybe a advanced parole).

Thanks,

Hi

Definetly there is a legal way of going out of US for a long period ( upto two years ).If you plan to leave the
country (US) for long period then you need to get the "Re-entry permit" .Dont know what form it is..

But i believe you can get the re entry permit once (may be twice) but very difficult then onwards.
So please consult a lawyer about which form it is.

Yes you can get a permit to re-enter the country. Check out the INS website for the required forms. You dont need a lawyer to file this application with INS.
