Long term assgnment outside US

Have a good chance back to home country for a long term assignment (maybe years). My I485 case is still pending, ND: 12/19/01, RD: 12/27/01. I guess this assignment may not affect my I485 case, however, not sure if there's any negative effect when apply for citizenship later on.

Any thought or comment welcomed.
