long pending cases "FP sent" deleted from DB

Per random scans, it appears that all pending cases stuck with "FP sent" status dated on 2001, 2002 and up to March 2003 , were all deleted from the database.

Similarly, many long waiting "Undelivered" cases were deleted too.
Major cleanup or what?

The BCIS call center responded with the same previous status. Something's happened for sure with the online system. Lets hope it will be fixed soon.

I think the database itself should be OK.
A simple bug could be incorporated into the logic layer maybe written in Java because the presentation layer is written in JSP.
I wonder why the BCIS can not fix it within 36 hours.

Eduardo Aguirre seems to think IT as a tool of backlog reduction,
but considering the current poor situation,
it may take a long time, beyond the end of 2006.

One more observation, one case 1/15/2002 Fp sent changed to 2/8/2002 Resumed/FP received, while another case 12/28/2001 Fp sent change to Not found, both in the same series 067.
Looks like they updating database.

2,675 pending I485 cases filed in August and September 2001 were scanned last night.
205 cases were not found.

The previous status of these cases are:
Code:
119 FP sent
 39 withdraw
 38 undeliverable
  4 dulicated notice mailed
  3 resumed
  1 RFE received
  1 received
------------------------------
205 total
The database itself seems to be updated.
Case status of the first 4 groups and approved cases must be returing "case not found" message.
For another 5 cases, they might have been approved.

Even for a case with the following previous status:
On August 15, 2003, we mailed a notice requesting that you appear for fingerprint recording. ...
it is not found online.
Obviously, it is a programming bug.

kashmir,

It appears that recently approved (August) EAD cases are missing too. While, unapproved ones can be found.

Hi, niladri30,
We have seen the trouble for not only I485 or I765 but also any type of applications.

But considering that the case which fingerprint notice was sent on 8/15/2003 is also not found,
it must be not clean-up but a simple programming bug.
Also, we can confirm the status to call NCSC 800 number.
If the database itself was cleaned up, it is impossible.

Anyway, it is affecting several scanning projects.

I believe someone posted that the phone system was OK. So must be your bug theory is right!

Scanning being impacted is bad news, though :(

For Project Kashmir,
I had already modified a program temporarily, so scanning will complete soon.
However, some cases not found online must be checked with NCSC 800 number.
Some volunteers might be needed...

summary

When you tried to see your case status, you might get the following error message:
The status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center.
National Customer Service Center (800) 375-5283
Your case might have been approved.
You can confirm your case status to call NCSC 1-800-375-5283 and to push many "1"s.

Here is the detail.
The simple programming bug was incorporated into the logic layer of the BCIS Case Status Online around 10:15am on 9/11/2003 PST.
It is not fixed yet as of 7:00pm 9/14/2003 PST.

Caused by this bug, for not only I485 but also any type of applications, the case with the following status can not be found.
1) approved
2) fingerprint notice sent
3) withdrawal
4) underliverable by post office
5) other minor status groups

However, the database itself is OK, so you can get your correct status from NCSC 1-800-375-5283 free dial.

This bug also affects most of scanning projects such as Project Kashmir.

I recommend to remove the above cases from your scan list until the bug will be fixed.

I hope the BCIS will fix the bug as soon as possible.
