I just received my interview date for my interview at the US consulate in London. My interview is May 23rd, (2 weeks after I got the notification). I was instructed to call the 'Nuffield Hospitals Health Screening' to arrange an apointment for my medical.
In every post I have read and every person I have spoken to I have been told the same story - you just go to the doctor's office and have a 5 minute medical. You then leave the office with a sealed envelope containing the documents. NOT ANY MORE IT SEEMS...
When I called the Nuffield, (a private hospital chain in the UK), I was told that they only had one appointment left and it was May 16th in Birmingham. That's a week before my appointment in a city 3 hours from London! At 8:30 in the morning so I can't even fly in on the red-eye!
That means I have to fly my children over to the UK and take them out of school for over a week rather than my wife and I just flying over for the 2 days for the interview, (the kids as US citizens).
I am trying to get the appointment moved to later in the week but the Nuffield tell me that they need 2 DAYS to process the results so Wednesday is the latest I can have the medical.
Evidently, this is a new process started when they contracted the medicals out to Nuffield.
I am trying to stay calm as this is the last step in the process but I'd really like to throttle someone ;-)
