Gurus,

My case was Transferred to Local office last month and I got a letter saying that I will have to come for an Interview on Jan 19. in the letter they have asked to bring in my passport, I 94s and letter of employment.
nothing else and for my spouse and daughter they have asked for passport and I 94, nothing more.
so 1) what do other things that I take with me?.
2) is there any chance of getting the approval, stamping the same day?.
3) but they have not asked for any Photos?.

and the most Important question my passport expires on Jul 2005.
so what I must do?. get the passport renewal before I go for Interview?.
I read some where that they won’t stamp in the passport if it is not valid fro more than 6 months .is it true?.
I have to go to Chicago for renewal. Which is wise: to send it in mail or go in person. I have less than 20 day working days in between. Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

Blessu,
congrats on getting your interview notice!!

1) In addition to the stuff you listed, I recommend you bring the following:
a) Driver's license, or similar photo ID.
b) Your income tax for the past 3 years
c) You last 3 pay stubs
d) If you changed jobs, bring proof that you filed AC21, and EVL for new employer.
e) All your EADs
f) All your APs.
g) 2 photos for each applicant (new style, full face frontal view)
They may ask for any of this stuff, and its just good to have it just in case so that you don't get delayed any more.

2) Yes. I got stamped on the same day. If your name check is done, and everything is in order, you will get stamped the same day. The only delay can be of the officer needs to verify your name check, or if you changed jobs, and he needs to verify that the new job is valid.

3) I recommend you get photos for all the applicants. You never know if the officer will be ok with the ones there, or if he will ask for a new updated set.

4) If your passport can be renewed in such a short timeframe, then do it, as long as your country does not require you to send the original passport to get a new one. They may not give you a stamp in the passport, but if not then they should stamp a piece of paper instead. If they don't stamp anything, then you'll have to wait a few weeks to get your card before you travel.

Thanks George

I think you are following the right approach, and you still may not get it in time. Keep trying. I never got my name check results from the FBI, but in the end I found out they had been approved.

It won't hurt to try the senator. I havent't seen anyone try that yet on this forum.

curiousGeorge, what would that proof be?
I assume AC21 letter, explaining your case, and how you use AC21.

I beleive so. There was an example of someone here who changed jobs, and went for the interview. The new job was never reported before the interview and so the officer said he cannot make a decision until he reviews the credentials of the new job. The person had to wait, and the case was delayed. Not a good situation to be in, and he probably should have taken a lawyer with him. I assume that if the person had filed AC21 and sent the notification previously, then the oficer could not say that they were not notified, and then he probably would not have delayed the case.
