Living out of the US while waiting for Citizenship

Hi!
What are the implications of leaving the US and living outside the country for an extended period of time (> 6 months) after filing for US citizenship? Do the residency rules for maintaining permanent residency still apply? Is it any different if the travel outside the US is for work i.e. working at an overseas location of my employer as opposed to travel for personal reasons?
Thanks

Vijay

At the time of interview, they will revisit ALL parts of your N400 again and make changes as needed. My application was edited by the officer during the interview for the new trips I made after filing N400.

IF you stay outside US for more than 6 months after filing your N400, it may not only make you ineligible for citizenship, but might also negate your greencard.

So be very careful.
