Questions regarding traveling outside US while 485 is pending

Hi Ciba and Gurus,
I have few questions regarding traveling outside US after filing for I485 (my ND 03/09/01).

Me and my wife are traveling to India in August, both of us have valid PA and Ends but don\'t have proper -Visas (I believe). In my case I have valid H1 until mid 2002 but Visa on my passport was expired in May 2001. My wife has H4 visa on her passport but she applied for H1 transfer and got approved but never used that H1. Are there any risks involved in traveling us outside the US with these -visa statuses. Can\'t we reenter US without using Ends?

Are there any issues, if 485s are approved while we are not in US. How long can we delay getting AC stamped in our passports after they are approved.

Your case you can send your passport to St. Louis for Visa Stamping and it takes 4 weeks to get it back otherwise you need a stamp in India. your Wife will be ok as she got H1 but didn\'t change to H1 as she didn\'t get it stamped or working on that.

you need to keep Original I 485 Receipt when you travel Additionally if you change to EAD you need to keep AP.
