Last night after party I took a walk to the Boston Common and I felt that now I can breath much more easily. The series of events such as Sept. 11, current state of economy, war with Iraq and growing concerns of Norht Korea, I was thinking that this is not a place for me.
Yes GC is not everything ..but if you want to live here like a free individual, GC is a first step. It's a foundation for an American Dream that every non-Americans have.
But I never had that dream. How could I? I grew up with ADHA (attention deficit hyper activity) syndrome. Didn't do well in school, teachers always used to make fun of me, they would purposely ask me questions and show it to the class that I don't pay attention. It was insulting plus my parents used to give me hard time at home. They always fought for trivial reasons and later won't talk for months. I always spent time away from home ...but in company of good people. My friend cried like a kid when he came to know that I was going to US for studies. I miss him more than anyone ..he was my brother, father and my mother.
At some point I realized that I want to show to these people that I am not that bad. So started working hard in the final years of highschool and yesterday saw the GC approval. It was a long journey ....I have once lived in mud hut without electricity ....thanks to my parents who separated for quite some time. My parents taught me nothing except "don't be like us." What they didn't teach infact turned out to be a big gift that helped me a lot to established my identity.
Life is a journey full of surprises !
