Letter of status with 485

My attorney says that both my wife and I should submit a letter detailing our statuses in US. This letter will be sent with 485 application. Is this letter needed?

Also, my wife helped test a website for a large company when she was on H1. The company paid her a stipend check of $150 and a pizza coupon. She cashed this check back home(not in US). Do you think this may cause a problem with 485. Also, I have received re-imbursment checks for traveling to job interviews. Does this also cause problems? Thanks

The letter that your attorney mentions lists your non-immigrant history chronologically. You typically provide visa #, date & place of issue, dates you entered/left the country and the corresponging I-94#s (with a narration of the stamp), I-20 etc. This summary helps the adjudicating officer, who anyway is looking for such information to determine if you were illegally present in the country.

The stipend and the reimbursements that you received should not cause any problems. You wouldn't have received a W-2 stating that these were part of wages/salaries/tips........this is my take.
