Just trying to share what I learnt from USCIS - United States Careless and Ignorant Services, during my 485 process.

- Never assume your case will be processed as others
- 800# is of little or no help
- AILA inquiry may be of some help.
- A visit to local uscis office is definitely helpful. For example, if you changed address, they can lookup what is address in your I485. They can directly call TSC and ask for status for your case. That's how I found that my case was 'held up' and was assured it will be 'pulled out'. Of course it never happened.
- TSC doesn't respond to Senators inquiry too. My sentator's office left messages to TSC and only after several messages they responded.
- Senators office is also like TSC. So many people come with so many issues. My file with senator's office got lost in a week and had to give the details again.
- Don't call senator's office. Go to their office in person. It makes a lot of difference.
- Follow up , TSC simply tells senator's office that they will respond in a timeframe - week/10 days/month, but never does. If the office calls back again after that many days, then they have to respond.
- Go to senator than congressman, if can go to a level higher, why not
- Thank them for their efforts - senator, local USCIS personel. It makes a difference.

You are right. A lot of people do believe in just sitting and waiting for things to happen and in cases like yours and mine that is the worst thing to do. I am glad your case has finally been approved.
