Hi all,
I have been H1-B visa holder since 2004. In May 2006 my employer renewed my H1 -visa. When i got my I-94, i decided to travel with my family to my home country to visit my mother. My children had H4 visa and they were my wife's dependent. Also, in December 2005 I filed I-140 based on National Interest Waiver cathegory. I asked my immigration lawyer whether it is safe to travel, he said that there should not be any problem. My employer also let me travel since i accumulated a lot of annual leave days. I scheduled my interview at US consulate on my home country 2 weeks before my departure to USA. However, during interview, consular told me that my visa will be issued with delay, because i have to pass security clearance. My wife and kids got their visas without any problem. Currently, it has been 1 and half month since i have been waiting for the results of clearance. However, so far no responses. The only thnig what I hear is "you have to wait". While being abraod, I found out that my I-140 was approved. Now, I can not re-enter USA in order to start my adjustment procedure. I lost 2 job interviews for Assistant professor positions. Although my employer is very supportive, but everybody has limit of patience. Any tips on how to expedite this procedure, or may be someone was in similar situation. In the website of US Department of State, it is written that security clearance lasts no longer than 1 month. My case has been pending already 1 and half month. I do not understand what they check (there is nothing to check, honestly) and how they do this clearance, but i am afarid that i can lose my job....Any tips?
