Length of time to get physical green card

This question comes up every so often - note timeline given in response from USCIS below:

Thank you for your inquiry of 01/15/2014, regarding the status of your Permanent Resident Card.

Our system indicates that we received your USCIS Immigrant Fee on [date]. You should receive your Permanent Resident Card within 45 days of your entry into the United States or within 45 days after your USCIS Immigrant Fee is received (whichever occurred later). If you do not receive your Permanent Resident Card within the timeframe stated above, please submit another inquiry to the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TDD for the hearing impaired).
 
SSN cards come separately, they already arrived less than 2 weeks after we entered.
You pay the USCIS fee online, after you get your visa but before you enter (well, you can pay after you enter but that just delays the process).

You are a LPR as soon as you get stamped on entry which entitles you to work. You don't need a physical green card for that.

Finaly i am in US :)
Just a question, where online i can check and follow up my GC process updates ? can i see the my registered address on the system to make sure that they have use the one i have submitted ?
Lastly, on the POE, have they gave you any docs from the embassy package ? Or the the document that was attached to the package ?
For me no, just they stamp my passport and said we will send you the GC to your address.

Go into your ELIS account. When it moves from "accepted" to "optimized" then your green card is being produced, and when it moves to "closed" your GC is in the mail. From another forum I was reading it generally takes about a month to move to "optimized" and another week or two after that to receive it.

No, you do not receive anything from your embassy package on entry, and as far as I know there is no way to check the address.
