Good day. I read and was told you need to stay at your company a certain length of time - 6 months. 2 questions.
1) Do you need to stay at your company for 6 months after your I-485 has been approved or after your I-485 has been filed? If I file June 1, 2009, does that mean if i get approved before Dec. 1 2009, I just need to stay at my company till Dec. 1 2009 so as not to have any problems for filing citizenship later on? Or I have to stay with my employer for 6 months after I have been approved?
2) A friend of mine said USCIS only looks at the past 5 yrs. of employment when filing for citizenship. My friend is a nurse, so he got his GC even before going to the US to work. He only worked for the company a few months and changed employer before he could end serving 6 months. He consulted a lawyer with regards to his filing for citizenship, and it was advised that he just wait a little longer, say 7 yrs. before he file for citizenship, since it will only look at the past 5 yrs., thus his wrongdoing will be overlooked. Is this true?
Thanks.
