Leaving US for study purpose

Hi All,
My I485 is pending and PD on it is June 2003. Since I485 is retrogressed, I don't know when it will be approved. I am planning to leave USA for study purpose(1 year). Is there any way I can continue my GC process while staying outside USA.

Does Your job offer will be still stading on your return?
Also you need to have some means (Like AP or H1) of returning back to US.

I don't know if my company will keep me on payroll if I want to leave for study purpose. Suppose my company is willing to keep me on payroll for 1 year, can I continue my GC.
I have H1B and AP with me for travel purpose.

It is not about keeping you on the payroll. Offer needs be valid.
