Leaving US for a job while N400 is pending

I have submitted my naturalization application N-400. I am planning to leave the US for a temporary job for 6month.

Is is possible to leave the US while my application is pending and come back for the interview and other processes?
 
That sounds like dangerous and could cause application denial. You might need to go for the "temporary" job. Then come back and apply in a year or two to be safe OR apply for the citizenship and get the passport THEN travel for your job.
 
If you want a good chance of approval, apply a few months AFTER you have completed that foreign assignment and returned to the US.
