I read many opinions about this is and I understand that the general advice is that we should wait at least 6 months prior to leave sponsoring employer.
In my case what it bothers me is that my enrollment on a masters program is on hold and I need to go back to school by Oct 2007 otherwise I will lose my admission. Therefore I would like to get a new job by April 2007, end the probation period in my new job, show some hard work and extra hours dedication in the first months and then resume my masters studies by Oct 2007.
I would like to hear from people who actually packed the bags and left the sponsoring employer and see what they thought about it. I think that this idea that one should stick to employer after getting GC is the most stupid, insane and outrageous notion of all, since there is no law or restriction in my greencard stating that I should hang out with sponsoring employer after 5 years working for the same employer.
Ideally I would like to leave my employer 4 months after getting GC. My Gc was approved on 11/9/2006.
