leaving employer after 7 months & Unemployment benefits

Hi all,
My parents are ill and for which i have to travel abroad. Green card holder, the employer doesn't agree to give the vacation for the emergency. He's saying if i take the vacation i'll be terminated. my green card approval came 7 months ago.

please help me with questions to make a decision to travel aborad without effecting gc.

1. Is it safe to leave the employer(7 months after the gc approval)?

2. Shall i just resign before leaving or leave them upto them to terminate?

3. After I get back will be eligible for unemployment benefits? If they terminate is it ok? If i resign i don't think i will be eligible for Unemployment insurnace

And one more question please, if they terminate(fire) am i eligible for unemployment insurnace after i return back? Although here i am not doing any fault for getting terminated i am taking vacation for family emergency for the travel.

Yes, it is safe. Your GC will not be affected if you quit or lose yor job.

2. Shall i just resign before leaving or leave them upto them to terminate?
I think you should not resign. And the employer cannot deny time off for family emergency. Family always comes first, no matter what. If they do, sue them.

3. After I get back will be eligible for unemployment benefits? If they terminate is it ok? If i resign i don't think i will be eligible for Unemployment insurnace
if you are fired, you will be eligible for UI benefits. If you quit, you cannot claim UI.
What kind of an employer is it? A desi body shop?

Thanks for the reply. yes you are correct its a small consultancy. I spoke to my attorney as well she said since i am crossed 7 months i am fine interms of gc. But she asked me to leave the termination to the employer.
