Leaving country while applying for H1b transfer - and related questions.

Hello everyone!

I have few concerns about H1b transfer. I currently work as a faculty for one of the medical schools and accepted a job in private practice. I have a valid visa issued in Chennai based on the current employer and it is valid till 2006. After accepting the new job I informed my current employer few weeks ago of my intentions and gave resignation letter with June 30th as the last date of working.

I would like to take few weeks off before starting the new job, more like mid July. The best option I was offered is to apply for h1b transfer under premium processing and then leave the country.

1. It looks like I can enter US as soon as the application in approved. Is this correct?

2. In this scenario, will I be considered to be out of status from July 1st to whatever date I start my job?

3. Do I need to get another visa from Chennai again? Or the current visa and approval notice of the new job enough to come back?

4. What is the deal with new H1b fees of $1500 +$500. Are these for new applications only or for both new applications and also for transfers?

Thanks,
Prasad
