Leave current employer after 180 days --- AC21 Issue

Greet all.
My I-485 has been pending for a year and 5 months! Meanwhile, I am on bench although I am still on my employer's payroll.
After reading comments from all of you, I concluded that It's better to leave current employer under AC21 law before the approval of I-485 than to do after. Am I right?
Any input is appreciated.

SO IF YOU ARE ON BENCH, YET ON PAYROLL, ARE YOU GETTING PAID? HOW DID YOU MANAGE IF IT IS SO?

Yes, I get paid. But I get only a little living expense.

If you find an employer who can offer you a similar job (job discription should be same as in your approved LC), you can very well join that employer and still get your I-485 approved.

Please discuss the specifics of your case with your attorney.

I have another question to all readers. Please help.
Do you know how to notice INS about job change? Hope you give me some detail. I know it is normally the best to talk to the lawyer. But my lawyer seems not on my side although I paied her. That's why I ask for your opinion.
