Learning from the past...

First of all I commend all the sincere efforts being put by Edison, dsatish, dengdeng, cinto (I hope I didn't miss anyone). I think it is a great idea to collect signatures and send a petition.

Sometime back ISN and others have done something similar and succeeded in getting the AC21, H-1B extension beyond 6 year limit and H-1B quota increase. I don't know what path they have taken, but since they succeeded, I think we can take some of those and implement here too. Do any of you guys have any idea what has gone through at that time?

Volunteers aside, does anyone know how the previous effort by ISN was carried out? We can do the same for this petition.

I accept that we are not organized group and we don't have funds to fight for our main cause,Immigration backlog. If we try to establish an organization and collect funds, it might not help us immediately, it takes time. It's very difficult to form an organization since most of our people are just reactive to the situation rather than being proactive. Also we have to understand our own limitations. I'm sure we can't take our issue beyond certain level. I'm sure that we cannot lobby with BCIS or Congress, why go that far, we can't even take our issue to media. We need very strong organization to support our issue and they have to represent us. So our main goal should be "approach a prominent Immigrant support organization to represent our issues". As a first step to this effort I approached National Immigration forum on behalf of Immigrationportal.com I-485 applicants.

Edison/dsatish..

Edison, dsatish and others... excellent Job with the petition related work.

I heared that after green card, there is a waiting period for a Naturalization. I do not know if the petition could be corrected now, will be nice to use some this 485 delay time to reduce the wait period for Naturalization.
